A game on NEO is an entry in your account with a title, a description, a genre, a way of hosting players and published versions that players play. You can create one in the Creator Hub, or let the Studio create it the first time you publish a project.

Create a game in the Creator Hub#

  1. Open Creations in the Creator Hub (or choose New game on the dashboard).
  2. Choose New game. A two-step dialog opens.
  3. On New game · Details, fill in the title, genre and description, then choose Next.
  4. On New game · Players, choose who hosts the game and how many players a server holds, then choose Create game.

The new game appears in Your games as a Draft, with Not published in place of a version number. Nobody else can see it until you publish a version and make it public. See Publish and share a game.

Details#

FieldRules
TitleRequired, 3 to 60 characters. It has to pass the name filter.
GenreOne of Action, Obby, Hangout, Shooter, Racing, Simulator, RPG, Sandbox, Fighting, Strategy, Horror, Party, Puzzle or Other.
DescriptionOptional, up to 1,000 characters. It's filtered like other public text. Players read it on the game's About tab.

Players: hosting and server size#

The second step asks who hosts the game. Each choice sets the most players a server can hold.

ChoiceWhat it meansPlayers per server
SoloOne player. No server needed.1
Small groupsOne player's device hosts.Up to 16
Hosted roomsA light hosted room.Up to 50
Dedicated serversBig, competitive or persistent worlds.Up to 200

Players per server is how many players fit in one server, from 1 up to the limit for your choice. The default is 12 on Small groups. When a server fills up, the next player gets a new one.

You choose the hosting and the server size when you create the game. The Creator Hub doesn't have a way to change them afterwards.

What players see#

Your game's page, at /games/<id>, is what players see when they open your game from the home page, Charts, search or a link. It shows:

  • Key art: the image you upload in the game's Settings. Until you upload one, the page shows a plain NEO cube outline.
  • Title, By and your name, linking to your profile.
  • Genre, how many are playing, and Up to your players-per-server number.
  • Play, which starts the live version. It's turned off until you've published one.
  • Favorite, thumbs up and thumbs down, and the share of players who liked the game. Only players who have played can rate it.
  • About: your description and stats (Playing, Visits, Favorites, Created, Updated, Server size, Hosting, Genre), plus any game passes.
  • Store: every pass and product your game sells. See Game passes and developer products.
  • Servers: the running servers, how full each is, friends in them, and Join.

Manage a game#

Choose Manage on a game in Creations to open its page in the Creator Hub. It has six tabs: Overview, Analytics, Versions, Store, Testers and Settings. See Game settings and versions.
